Privacy policy

This policy explains what Dollars & Decisions does with personal information. It is written to be read, not to be survived. Sharma Media House is the data controller for this site.

The short version

The short version: reading this site is anonymous. No analytics, no advertising tags, no embedded social buttons, no sign-up. The only personal information we ever hold is what you type into the contact form yourself.

What we actually hold

There are only two circumstances in which we hold anything about you.

1. Server logs. The web server records each request: an IP address, a timestamp, the URL and the user-agent. That is normal for any website and is how a host detects abuse and diagnoses errors. We do not combine those logs with anything else, and we do not use them to identify readers.

2. The contact form. If you write to us, we hold what you sent: your name, your email address, the topic you chose and your message. We hold it in order to read and answer it, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that a follow-up makes sense. We do not add contact form addresses to a mailing list — there is no mailing list.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Our cookie policy covers this in more detail, including what would change if that ever stopped being true.

Advertising

Advertising may be displayed on this site. Where an advertising network is used, that network is a separate company with its own privacy policy, and it may set cookies or use similar technologies to measure and select advertising. We do not pass a reader's personal information to advertisers, and we do not receive personal information about readers from them. This section will name the network and link to its policy at the point that advertising is running.

Third parties

Two other companies are involved in delivering this site. Our hosting provider stores the site's files and serves them to your browser. Photographs are served from the Pexels image CDN, which means your browser requests the image files directly from them. Both receive your IP address as a necessary part of delivering a web page — this is how the web works rather than a choice we have made about you.

How long we keep things

Contact form messages are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Server logs are kept according to our host's retention schedule, which is measured in weeks rather than years.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Since the only thing we are likely to hold is a message you sent us, this is usually a short conversation. Write to editorial@dollarsanddecisions.shop or use the contact form, and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the change will be described here rather than absorbed silently into a new version.
